United Way Capital Area's
Tocqueville Society
Named after the French historian Alexis de Tocqueville — who recognized and celebrated the voluntary spirit
of the American people — United Way's Tocqueville Society honors the generosity of those individuals or
couples who invest $10,000 or more annually in our community through United Way Capital Area.
United Way Capital Area's mission is rooted in the simple notion that we can accomplish more when we
work together than we could ever accomplish individually. That's why we bring together people,
nonprofit agencies, corporations, community interest groups, foundations, and other local resources,
connecting them around the most pressing issues in our community. Through the collective power of
these resources (i.e., dollars, volunteer workforce, and expertise), United Way Capital Area is
changing Central Texas — for good. Our value is best illustrated by our name, because we
are a united way of serving our community.
Our Vision
The United Way Capital Area Tocqueville Society leads Central Texas by setting a philanthropic standard for compassion, generosity, and engagement
