2-1-1 Texas – 2-1-1 Texas, a service of United
Ways of Central Texas, is a bilingual, telephone-based information
and referral service. Trained, knowledgeable staff members answer
the phones, listen, assess what service(s) the caller needs, then
provide information and referrals regarding the most appropriate
place(s) in the community to get help. All information is free and
confidential and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Hands on Central Texas - A project of United Way Volunteer Center – Share your time and talents.
Make an impact in our community. Hands ON Central Texas - A project of United Way Volunteer Center, a service
of United Way Capital Area, can link you to volunteer opportunities
that match your interests, skills and schedule. You can support
this dynamic service and its programs such as Volunteer of the Month
and volunteer matching.
Young Leaders Society – The Young Leaders Society
is a program designed for leadership givers age 45 and under. This
unique program provides networking opportunities, social interaction
and education though monthly “Lunch with Leaders” and quarterly
“Community Horizon” leadership training programs, co-produced by
Leadership Austin. Additionally, YLS bring volunteerism to this
program by holding quarterly activities as well as an ongoing monthly
activity with the local Boys and Girls Club.
Women’s Giving Network – United Way Capital Area
proudly announces the inaugural year of its Women’s Giving Network.
Women who contribute $2500 to United Way’s Community Investments
can be part of this group, which will have representation on the
Impact Area Advisory Councils and will have input into the Agenda
for the Community. The vision of the Women’s Giving Initiative is
to inspire and celebrate women’s philanthropy and the group’s mission
is to develop powerful philanthropists in order to create a stronger
community through United Way Capital Area. Though the Women’s Giving
Initiative’s exact programs are to be determined, the group will
be a vehicle to connect women to the causes they care about and
will create new solutions to old health and human services problems
in Central Texas.
Tocqueville Society – United Way
of America created The Tocqueville Society to honor people
who have served their communities at extraordinary levels and given
immensely of their time, talent and resources. The name was chosen
because of the vision of French historian Alexis de Tocqueville
who recognized, applauded and immortalized the voluntary spirit
that lives in the hearts of Americans in his early 19th-century
work, Democracy in America.
United Way Capital Area recognizes and supports this dynamic group
of community-minded citizens with special presentations and programs
throughout the year.
Loaned Executive Program – The Loaned Executive
Program is critical to United Way Capital Area’s continued
success in meeting the growing needs of Central Texas communities.
Each year, organizations dedicated to making a difference in our
community support the Loaned Executive program by lending or sponsoring
bright, articulate and outgoing individuals to work with us for
the fall campaign.
Loaned Executives work for United Way Capital Area during an agreed-upon
period, making it possible to educate more people about the positive
impact they can make through United Way. When you loan an employee
to United Way Capital Area, you invest in the future of your organization,
your employee and your community. If you are unable to loan an employee
to United Way Capital Area, your organization can still support
the campaign by sponsoring a Loaned Executive.
